Pajama days with kids are a blast. If you’re looking for some easy ideas for making it even more fun, you’re in the right place! We’re sharing our favorite ways to make a jammy day special with your kiddos.

My boys LOVE a good PJ day. We went through a phase where every morning they would ask if they could have one.

The Best Pajama Day Ideas!

While I’m totally cool with occasional day (hello, less laundry) I try to limit it for the sake of being in a traditional routine and keeping it a special treat.

If you’re planning a fun day with your kids, here are some ways to make it extra fun!

Special Jammies

Okay, so this defeats the purpose of just letting them wake up and roll on with the day. But if you’re planning ahead, grabbing a fun new set of PJ’s is a great way announce it!

Here are some of our favorite choices:

Dinosaur Pajamas
Frozen Nightgown
Dump Truck PJs
Dragon pajamas
Tie Dye

And don’t forget slippers!

Bunny Slippers
Animal Feet Slippers
Mario and Luigi Slippers

(Love slippers? Check out our post on Animal Slippers for Women!)

Plan the whole day around it!

How about breakfast for dinner? Kids think breakfast for dinner is a fun treat while mom loves that it’s an easy meal. We love these kids breakfast ideas for quick, kid friendly options.

Pencil in some screen time.

When you’re having a jammy day, it’s easy to give in to temptation to just veg out in front of the TV all day. While there’s nothign wrong with that, if it’s not your “norm” it can make for a rough night.

I like to plan a movie for the day, complete with a bed fort and a snack. I make the boys a fort in their bunk bed, put the Lego Movie on and pop them a big bowl of popcorn.

They think it’s a blast to watch a movie in be in comfy clothes and I get a couple hours of peace. Wins all around.

Head out – yes, in your pajamas!

Whether you need to make a quick trip to the store or want to do a coffee drive through, getting your kiddos in the car in the PJs can feel perfectly fun and silly!

Or head to the yard!

We try and manage even 5 minutes of fresh air outside each day. Put some sneaks on and play tag or ride bikes. Just make sure if your kids pajamas are loose (think nightgowns) that they’re being safe.

Snuggle up and read a book.

Get everyone in your bed (hello, comfiest bed in the house!) and grab a stack of books. Whether you’re reading books about PJ’s or some of your favorite classics, it’s a great way to bond togehter.

Here are some of our favorite books to read any day:

  • Dinosaur Books for Preschoolers
  • Truck Books for Kids
  • Books about Space for Kids

Try some Pajama Day activities!

Pinterest is a treasure trove of ideas and free printouts. Try some of these fun PJ themed activities you cna print out and do at home.

  • PJ Art
  • Activity Ideas
  • Printables

Build a Fort

Building a fort is so fun! Right now, the boys have bunk beds so I keep it really simple and drape sheets from the top bunk to the. bottom.

Build a for with sheets, blankets, and pillows, then play a game, watch a movie on a lap top, or read some books in your little fortress.

End the day comfy, cozy, and cocoa-y!

We love to end special cozy days wiht some hot cocoa and/or homemade cookies. It’s a fun way to end a special day.

Whether you’re looking to make a gloomy rainy day a bit more fun or just want to make an average day secial, a pajama day for kids is a great option!

Let me know in the comment show you make a PJ day more fun!

I LOVE leftovers but unfortunately they don’t last very long at our house! I’m also a big believer on staying in PJ’s all day if it’s gross out!

When my husband’s not home, they usually last until at least the next day, but if he’s home… well I catch him eating them on the couch as “dessert”

Pajama days are the best! Especially when it is gross outside.
I love having leftovers- or maybe I just love not having to think about what we are having for dinner.

I know, that the best part! I cook for myself a lot, so I make full batches and freeze/refrigerate them so I don’t have to cook later!
