Little Blue Truck Leads the Wayby Alice Schertle

This is a favorite around here! The Little Blue Truck series is so cute. This one is about working together and pushing egos aside to get more done.

I Stink! by Kate and Jim McMullan

If your kids are fans of the online show, Stinky and Dirty, they’ll love the books that inspired the show! I Stink is about a garbage truck that loves to be stinky.

Richard Scarry’s Cars and Trucks and Things That Go

Did you watch The Busy World of Richard Scarry as a kid? I was so excited when I saw this old book and could introduce some of my favorite characters. It has hundreds of real and funny trucks – from fire trucks to a silly pickle truck!

Where Do Diggers Sleep at Night? by Brianna Caplan Sayres

If you read before bed, this one is perfect! Diggers have surprisingly similar bedtime routines to little boys and girls.

Old MacDonald Had a Truck by Steve Goetz

My favorite truck book by far. This one takes a well known kid’s song and turns it on it’s head with some fun truck references. The boys LOVE reading this truck book for kids, which shows different trucks (“Old MacDonald had an… EXCAVATOR!”) on each page and leads to Old MacDonald building a monster truck track.

Mighty, Mighty Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker

The adorable companion book to Good Night, Good Night Construction Site, but focused on day time instead. The construction vehicles have a big job to do. They need to rely on friendship and teamwork to get it done!

Pete the Cat: Construction Destruction by James Dean

Ryan’s teacher loves the series and they read it often. I went out and grabbed this construction themed one because of course and it’s a staple around here.

Dig! by Andrea Zimmerman and David Clemesha

Honestly, this is one of my favorites mostly because it’s not one of those crazy popular ones. We read it 2-3 times a day for months. Join Mr. Rally and his dog as they work through their day as they, “dig up dirt, dig up clay!” all day long!

Grandma Drove the Garbage Truck by Katie Clark

Grandma owns a garbage company and her 3 sons usually drive the trucks. Until they all get sick and Grandma needs to step in! Both of my boys think this truck book for kids is absolutely hilarious so we read it often!

Smash! Mash! Crash! There Goes the Trash! by Barbara Odanaka

Garbage day is a BIG DEAL at my house. This book goes through the excitement of watching the garbage truck come each week and crush your trash!

Okay so tell me – what kind of books do your kids like to read? What is your favorite truck book for kids? Let me know in the comments!

I love this! What a clever idea. I didn’t know that children love truck books but it sure stands to reason. Thank you for the great book ideas.

I love buying books for the grandsons — they all love trucks. There are a few here that I don’t think they have — will have to get them for Christmas. I’ve also pinned in case any other moms or grandmothers need advice.
