If I were on a deserted island, I’d want a good book, a pint of cookie dough ice cream, and a margarita pie from Krispy Pizza. How I’d make that work on a deserted island, I’m not sure but whatever.
Being on lockdown for while pregnant causes a few issues. You’d link my biggest concern would be giving birth alone, but the reality was that my cravings were my hardest problem!
I was too nervous to get take out, so when I had a craving for a college favorite of stuffed crust pizza. I knew I had to DIY it.
But my boys adore pepperoni, s we decided to up the ante and make pepperoni stuffed crust pizza. Oh, yes, it was everything and more.
How to make Pepperoni Stuffed Crust Pizza
Cheesy pizza, crispy crust, and, at the back, bread, cheese, and pepperoni wrapped in one. And today, we’re talking about to make it yourself!
It’s actually easier than you think – It’s mostly a pizza with an extended crust, then string cheese wrapped in pepperoni. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1 – stretch your crust.
Preheat you oven as hot as it will go, then stretch out your dough on a greased pan.
I love this NY style pizza dough from Serious Eats, but I also have used store bought yeast pizza dough. Just skip the tube kind, please!
The key to a crispy homemade crust is oil with a sprinkle of cornmeal before stretching out and placing your crust down. Trust me!
Step 2 – Wrap the pepperoni!
Here I used string cheese cut into 2 inch lengths, but small sticks from a brick of mozzarella cheese would be find as well.
Next, wrap your cheese in your thinly sliced pepperoni. You can use deli pepperoni or the presliced rounds like Hormel.
Step 3 – Line and wrap the crust
About 1 inch from the edge of your pizza, lay your pepperoni and cheese rolls. Gently pull the dough over your rolls and tuck under.
Step 4 – Make your Pizza
A thin layer of sauce is all you need – I like to cook down my veggie packed spaghetti sauce for a bit of guilt relief, but any sauce works.
Next layer on a thin coat of shredded mozzarella. Then we like to add a sprinkle of Parmesan and locatelli, but use what your family loves. I recommend shredding your own cheese versus pre-shredded since it will melt better. Pre-shredded has an anti clumping coating that makes it harder to melt.
Step 5 – bake!
Bake in a SUPER hot over (we go 550) for 10 minutes, rotating halfway through.
Remove from the oven and cut and serve in about 3-5 minutes for safety’s sake.
Pepperoni Stuffed Crust Pizza
Ingredients:
Shredded mozzarella cheese
4-5 mozzarella cheese sticks
8 slices of sandwich style pepperoni
1 cup of pizza sauce
1 pound of pizza dough
Preheat your oven to 450. Cut all of your cheese sticks in half, set aside. Roll out your dough into a big circle, about 4 inches wider (2 on each side) than you want your end pizza to be. I used refrigerated dough from my grocery store, but you can use homemade, obviously. Transfer to your baking pan.
Spread your sauce in a circle on the center, leaving 2 inches or so all around. Wrap each cheese stick half in a slice of pepperoni and place them where the sauce and dough meet. Stretch and wrap your extra dough around the cheese sticks, tucking the extra dough under.
Top with cheese and any desired toppings. (I used about half of a block of mozzarella I shredded.) Bake as per the instructions on your dough’s packaging (mine was about 10-12 minutes) Allow to sit for a few minutes before serving and enjoy!

I love that you made your own stuffed crust! This would definitely be a party crowd pleaser. If I had to pick one food I’d probably pick vegetable pad thai and spring rolls…I can’t stop eating them! Pizza is a very close 2nd though!
