Oh, baby Owen, you are 2 months old! I don’t really understand it. You guys, wasn’t I just pregnant? In the most honest way possible, and the most cliche way possible, I have no idea where the past 2 months have gone. I remember with Ryan the first 3 months dragged – colic will do that to you. I remember telling people that I couldn’t believe the time was flying, but I was aware of each and every day that passed. Yes, I miss it and I miss bitty baby Ryan but he was tough.
But with Owen, I have no idea where the time has gone. I’m not sure if it’s because he’s been such a relatively good baby, or because I now have two, or the combo of them both, but it’s pretty alarming how quickly time is passing. But either way, let’s talk about how this little boy is changin’!
Weight: I’ll update these after his 2-month appointment next week, but probably 10ish?
Diaper size: 1
Clothing size: 0-3 but I still squeeze him into NB. I’m in denial!!
Likes: Big brother Ryan, Cooper, clean diapers, the pacifier, being swaddled, being the world’s most serious baby, being held in the carrier, just hangin’ out in the bouncer.
Dislikes: Dirty diapers, being tired, spitting up, being ignored.
Eating: O is still a great eater. I actually just sat here thinking okay, how many times a day does he nurse? But then I realized I don’t have him on a schedule so I have no idea! ha! BUT he only nurses when he first wakes up after a diaper change, and then not until after the next nap – which is amazing since Ryan needed to be nursed (and then some..) to sleep for every nap and bedtime. Owen’s a pretty easy baby, but I like to think I paid my dues (and then some) with Ryan.
Sleeping: Again, Owen’s a pretty easy sleeper! He doesn’t sleep through the night but I have no expectations for that – Ryan didn’s sleep through the night for 1.5 years. The longest I’ve ever gotten from him is 6 hours though which is amazing. I put him down for bed around 7 and one a good night he’s asleep by 8 at the latest and out until 2ish, and then I change and feed him and put him right back down until 6/6:30. Funny story – I’m still not sure if Owen wakes up Ryan or if Ryan wakes up Owen, but now they both wake up around the same time. Some mornings Owen will wake up at 5 and not want to go back to sleep, so I’ll let him lay in bed in my arm nook until Ryan wakes up. Naps are also pretty easy, so long as I get hi swaddled and in the bouncer within an hour. He;ll nap anywhere from one hour to I have to wake him up after 3. Crazy baby.
Other things of note:
-We are dealing with some crazy reflux. I sent my girlfriend a picture the other day (mom besties are the best, yo) that I won’t burden you with, but he was sitting in the bouncer and projectile spit up INTO MY COFFEE that was sitting on the table. More often than not it’s just a little whining then some spit up and done, but sometimes he cries and cries until he does which makes me sad. At his last appointment the ped said he wouldn’t treat it unless he was hurting, (which I appreciate – we try to limit meds as much as possible) so I’m interested to hear what he’ll say.
-I may be insane, but both boys are getting their check-ups on the same day. I made one appointment both for Owen’s 2-month and Ryan’s 2-year (don’t even get me started on that… ) I’m mildly terrified since O will have his first shots and Ryan will be getting one shot. Oh boy.
-I’m definitely getting used to taking Owen out in the carrier. I’m learning how to tie it pretty quickly and how to get him in comfortably – woohoo!
-As you can see in the first picture, we’ve got a smiler! But true to his nature, he only smiles sparingly because he is the “World’s Most Serious Baby.” So I spend a good amount of my days doing crazy faces and typical baby talk to try and get a smile out of him.
-This month, we took Owen to the zoo twice! Once as a little fam and once with my dad. He also went to the aquarium and the beach for the first time! Kid’s been busy.
-All of his acne cleared up maybe 2 weeks ago? Thank goodness because it was grrrroooss. Some try skin was left behind but I’ll take it.
-We also celebrated Mother’s Day and it was so, so sweet to be able to celebrate as a mom of two boys. These two warm my heart.
And like last month, we’ll close with Ryan at 2 months!
Until next month!
