Kids music shows are a great way to quiet kiddos without guilt while also teaching them some life lessons. These musical shows are usually centered around showing kids how to be kind, conquer a fear, or try something new, making them a great option for entertaining kids.

If you’re looking for kids shows with songs your kids will love singing, we’ve got you covered! We’ve broken our list down to cartoon shows and live action shows, most appropriate for kids a bit older.

Cartoon Kids Music Shows

Beatbugs

We adore Beatbugs. The Netflix show is about a bunch of – you guessed it – bugs who are friends. They sing kid-friendly covers of the Beatles songs, exposing kiddos to the classics. Bonus, each episode offers a good lesson about friendship, hard times, or working together.

Yo Gabba Gabba

You might remember Yo Gabba Gabba, and there’s good reason this show was so popular when it was on cable! Featuring DJ Lance Rock and his 5 puppet friends, they sing songs to help kids grasp concepts like trying new foods.

Bonus, many episodes have special guests grown-ups will recognize, like The Killers and Solange Knowles.

A real life children’s group formed in New Orleans in 2003, this rock band got their own Disney Playhouse show in 2006. On the show they use music to help solve “Idea Emergencies.”

The Fresh Beat Band

A group of 4 music school graduates looking to follow their dreams is the basis of this cute kids music show. At the beginning of the show, a song forshadows the problem the band will work to solve. The show ends with a song about the solution to the problem, like “I can Do Anything.”

Little Einsteins

Chances are you’ve heard of this music centered show for kids. Based off of classical music like Beethoven and Mozart, the little Einsteins solve problems and tell stories while also teaching kids about music, from notes to composers

StoryBots

This is out family’s FAVORITE music show for kids. It’s the least obnoxious in my opinion.

I love that it teaches complex concepts like how computers work and why kids need to brush their teeth with fun songs and silly characters. You’ll also see special guest stars, like Jay Leno, Ed Norton, and Snoop Dog.

DoodleBops

Admittedly, just barely on the wrong side of weird and annoying kids music shows, Doodlebops is a fun musical show. It features a mix of music, dancing, humor, and skits that taught social lessons, and has scenes form “concerts” in front of kids.

True: Magical Friends

Another favorite in our house, the True series shows how the power of friendship can solve any problem. Of course, there is a healthy dose of cute, catchy songs

Motown Magic

Motown magic introduces kids to a different genre of music than is “typical” in kids music shows, in the best way possible. Smokey Robinson is the executive producer, so you know it’s going to be amazing. it stars Ben who uses a magic paintbrush to bring street art to life.

Mother Goose Club

Okay, again, a little more annyoing thatn not, but it’s still better than Little Baby Bum Bum which is basically my limit these days. It’s great for littles and tells Mother Goose tales with music everyone knows.

Trolls: the Beat Goes On

If you have Trolls fans in your house, I’m sure you’ve already seen this many times. Based on the hit movies, the Trolls show follows the same main characters as they get into silly problems and sing hit songs and unique b. (spoiler, the voices are NOT the same as the movies, but chances are only you will notice.)

Live Action Kid Music Shows

Victorious

You might remember this Nickelodeon hit show about a specialized music school for teens, staring Victoria Justice. The cast gets into hilarious situations throughout the show, and you might notice it’s also where Ariana Grande got her start.

Hannah Montana_

Everyone knows this famous TV show from the mid ’00’s. Miley Cyrus, playing as a variation of herself lives a double life as a mega pop star and a “normal” kid, tricking the world with a simple wig change. Because, logic. Either way, kids love the silliness and the songs!

Naked Brothers Band

Staring brothers Nat and Alex Wolff, the sit com for kids follows the duo through their silly and fabulous life as music performers and “normal” teens.

JONAS

Back during the prime of mid 00’s Disney Channel, we encountered Camp Rock and J.O.N.A.S. which both stared the Jonas Brothers in all of their awkward teen boy band glory. This spy themed show is liberally dotted with goofiness and songs form the brothers.
