I’ve mentioned it before – many times, it may seem. But, I really hate breakfast.
On a personal level, I’m rarely hungry first thing. Truly, I’m not a morning person in the least. I just want to sip coffee in silence until I reach a relative state of alertness. Being a mom, I rarely ever get that luxury.
Let’s stop stressing about the ‘most important meal of the day’. Instead, let’s start giving ourselves some grace.
Here you’ll find sure to please kids breakfast recipes and tips for making kids breakfast less stressful. I’m here to save the morning.
Tips for making kids breakfast recipes
- When possible, make ahead. Busy mornings are not the time to break out some fancy new, time-intensive breakfast. Instead, try making breakfast ahead of time. Pancakes made the night before heat well. Overnight breakfast casseroles can be prepped the night before. You’ll have a healthy meal before the kids even wake up.
- Keep an eye on the sugar. Normal breakfasts marketed towards kids can be absolutely packed with sugar. From sugary cereals to cookies and cakes labeled “breakfast pastries”. By making your own, you’re able to control the sugar.
- Balance! Look, if it were up to my own kids, they would eat a fruit smoothie and a handful of cereal and call it a day. As parents, it’s our job to offer (not force!) a solid,
well balancedkids breakfast to them. So make sure when possible, you’re offering protein, carbs, healthy fats, fruits andvegetables. I love offering a veggie smoothie when possible – fruits, veggies, and protein in one!
- Get the kids involved. I love getting kids in the kitchen. It’s a great way to get kids actually eating! By getting your kids involved in making their own meals, you’re helping to ensure they’ll actually eat it. You’re also showing them that feeding themselves is also their own responsibility.
