I’m in that weird space right now where it feels like Friday took forever to come this week – I kept thinking it was a different day all week – and feeling like it was a short week due to a snow day. So I guess that makes the week feel exactly how long it’s supposed to feel…? Maybe? Who knows. In all fairness, life as a SAHM means that weeks and the lengths of weeks have little to no meaning other than when Alex’s day(s) off are so there’s that.
Enough of that random babbling – how was your week?! Will you be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day today? If you’re looking for a small, festive way to celebrate, be sure to check out my St. Patrick’s Day fruit salad! Either way, let’s get to the favorites, shall we?
Owen’s First Birthday! If you didn’t know, my little pudgy nugget turned ONE on Tuesday! I had plans to meet up with my mom, but since we were hit with a freaking blizzard on Tuesday, Alex had a snow day and we were able to spend the whole day as a little family. It was the perfect day of playing, cuddling, and eating cake. I made him a little smash cake and unlike a normal baby, he just chose to pick up the entire thing and start chomping at it. Such a weirdo.
Wednesday morning I bundled up the boys and drove extra slow to make it to a 915 well appointment for Owen. (What was I thinking, scheduling it that early?) He’s such a little dude – 20 pounds and 28 inches makes him hit the 20th/25th percentile respectively, but he’s got a big ol’ noggin which hits the 50th percentile. He’s pretty much always been like that and it makes me giggle that he’s a tiny dude with a big head.
Scary Mommy article – This Kid’s Sex Ed Book Might Leave You With More Questions Than Answers. You guys, I cried while reading this. Like dead cried laughing. It’s so weird and bizarre, like who would write this book and think to themselves, Man! This is a great option for explaining sex and babies to kids!
Owen’s birthday present. I got Owen this cute little steering wheel toy for his birthday and it was a total hit. Downside – both boys love it (saw that coming). Upside – both boys love it, so I know it won’t just be another thing added to the pile. If you have truck obsessed kids and are tired of just buying trucks, be sure to check out my gift guide for gifts for truck loving kids that aren’t just more trucks!
Cheerios and Wildflowers. Has this popped up in your feed yet? I saw it a few times since the first, and I love the idea. Cheerios is trying to help the bees, which are dying off quickly, and are sending people packets of wildflowers for free! Be sure to sign up for your free seeds and spread the love!
