Happiest of Fridays, my beautiful friends! How is life going? Now that Owen is finally back to relative normalness (or as normal as that goof can get, TBH) I’m feeling good – the time stuck cuddling a little nugget gave me little time to blog, but tons of time to read, research, and contemplate my space and I can’t even tell you all how freaking excited I am to get some of this stuff rolling.
(PSST – one of the things I got done this week was this free printable “Eat the Rainbow Cheat Sheet” which shares over 100 different fruits and vegetables sorted by color to easily add a rainbow of color to your plate! Make sure to grab yours!)
Some of the ~exciting~ behind the scenes stuff has already been put into action, (like updating and kicking into gear my email list – make sure you join because I share some pretty fun/embarrassing stories there, like that time I literally sang the Kraft macaroni and cheese song in a Target Starbucks and someone may or may not have called me out on it..) but you can expect a lot of really cool and exciting stuff coming to a blog (okay, this blog) near you. I can’t wait to be able to help, share, and grow with you all!
Okay, sorry for babbling – I’m just super excited for everything that’s on deck – let’s talk favorite things!
Posts you may have missed this week:
An adorable, healthy little nugget. (+juice boxes that are for teeny guys.)
It’s SO nice not to have this kid clinging to me and miserable – really. After 2 weeks of carrying him everywhere, I really appreciate when he goes and plays alone right now. Also, these juice boxes that are about half the size are kind of my new fave since Ryan occasionally gets a bigger one and then Owen wants one, but he can’t finish it so it ends up getting squished and squirted all around my house.
Click and Grow
Have you guys ever seen these before? You seriously grow stuff – EDIBLE stuff – on your counter. With no work. Truth: I threw an entire basil plan out two years in a row when it got over taken by spiders. I don’t go bugs. Nope. Maybe lightening bugs, but not spiders. Ew. Anyway, we love basil and can seriously genuinely use 3 or 4 huge plants in the summer, but I refuse to do the spider thing again. BUT not my spider hating, black thumb owning self can grow some fresh basil on my kitchen counter.
The kind people at Click and Grow took pity on me and sent me their Smart Herb Garden and it’s kind of crazy awesome. It’s a lighted contraption plus seeds in the dirt (I’m so scientific, I know.) that you literally plug in, fill the water reservoir, and let it be. Ryan was impressed that we had tiny little sprouts in 2 or 3 days and now less than 2 weeks later my whole kitchen smells like basil. MAGIC people.
THIS bag from Target (of course.)
I’ve been in search of a cute backpack that I could use for diapers and kid schtuff and also as a computer bag when I go out to get blog work done alone but was coming up empty handed. I stumbled upon this cute bag at Target and it’s perfect – the right size for a notebook and laptop, and roomy enough for diapers, wipes, changes of clothes etc. Now that both boys are crazy, I need both hands at all times. Backpack life forever, yo. PS the reviews say it smelled like fish? Mine smelled kind of funky for a day or two but not like a crazy amount and it wore off pretty soon.
A real live photo.
I was going to write ‘head shot’ and then laughed because my dad took this in his backyard and omg you guys, picture taking is so awkward. I don’t think I could take a real picture like this. Way too awkward. I literally lasted 45 seconds of my dad taking my picture before I was like, enough, I’ll make it work. Ugh. At least we got a decent one, though. It’s not like the picture before this that I used on everything was the picture I used to announce to the world that I was pregnant with Owen or anything. (It totally was which makes it almost 2 years old.)
You know I’m a huge Pandora fan. It’s nothing new. But I’m telling you, my favorite part is that I constantly find new songs to obsess over. (and with the new subscription side, you can replay songs over and over or make playlists of just 2 or 3 songs and put it on repeat..) With the weather warm, I like to put all the windows down and put the music too loud and pretend I’m 20 and not driving a minivan wit 2 kids in the back. Anyway: Happy songs are where I gravitate. My favorites lately are:
Good Company – Jake Owen
Feel It Still – Portugal, the Man
No Such Thing as a Broken Heart – Old Dominion
Every Little Thing – Russell Dickerson
Saltwater Gospel – Eli Young Band
(Psst – these aren’t all 100% kid friendly, but if you’re looking to make a totally kid-friendly playlist, check out this post with over 70 songs in 5 genres that are safe for little ears!)
Alright, my friends – I’m off to go try and figure out what to do with a rainy weekend – leave your recommendations in the comments!!
