Looking for a fun way to add some Christmas cheer to your kids’ favorite meal? Turn quesadillas into festive Christmas trees in a fun and easy twist on a classic!
Try as we may, the truth of the matter is that Christmas is a season of treats. Sugar and junk food are everywhere, from eggnog to candy canes to cookies for Santa. While I love being able to indulge occasionally, I try not to let my boys become overcome by the sugary lure.
In our house (and I’m would bet yours as well!) sugary treats can be a black hole – I offer Ryan one Hershey’s kiss as an after dinner treat and the next thing I know, it’s Friday and he’s throwing a tantrum because I won’t let him take a chocolate bath Augustus Gloop style instead of eating dinner.
Okay, that might be a bit extreme, but when it comes to the good stuff in our house it really does look like a, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie situation. It quickly escalates into mealtime meltdowns and tantrums galore.
With that in mind, I try pretty hard to find easy ways to add some fun to the boys’ without relying on the sweet stuff. Take my famous chicken boo-dle soup – my way to solve the issue of wanting kids to go out and get candy, but obviously, they need dinner first.
