Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Between good weather and family time, ours was honestly great. It felt like one of those weekends I really, really needed for my sanity, and I was happy to avoid my phone and computer for the majority of the time. Let’s get into it, shall we?
Friday we went to my dad’s to hang out (since the crazy rain on Thursday stopped our normal Thursday date with my dad) and use his oven. The boys fell asleep in the car and I was magically able to transfer both of them into the house asleep. My dad was still at work and it was super weird being in my childhood home in utter silence.
We grabbed a pizza after running some errands and next thing I knew, Owen was walking around with a slice of him own. Ryan had sneakily taken a whole slice out of the box, nibbled it a bit and discarded it before Owen grabbed it and basically smeared it all over himself. Lovely.
On Saturday, I packed up the boys and took them to a party for my Grandma at my Uncle’s house. A bunch of family that I haven’t seen in a million years were there which was nice, but the boys were mostly into the dogs.
My brother was able to come back from Boston so I forced (literally forced and threatened to change my Netflix password and not remind him of people’s birthdays, as all good older sisters do) him to partake in a family picture. We got a few good ones, but this one is the true explanation of what my family is like, ha! (ps, Alex had to work, hence his absence)
This is what poor Cooper looks like when he watched Alex leave after he said he’d take him for a walk when the boys get to sleep. (to be fair, he DID walk him after he got back)
The whole weekend, the boys were up around 5 or 530 (thanks, guys) and obviously Owen was more tired than I realized. I went to check on him a few minutes before this and he was just playing in Ryan’s bed, and then next I knew, he was asleep. It was basically the cutest ever, and I hope it means he’ll start doing this more, since never in his life has Ryan intentionally taken a nap.
Since it was gorgeous out, we went to one of our favorite NJ spots for kids, Space Farms. It’s the cutest and we got a few times a year so we ended up grabbing a season pass while we were there. (They were only 2x the admission, so it made sense to do it.)
Ryan is starting to really ‘get’ zoos and animals, and it’s fun to watch. That being said, they have chickens that just wander and let’s just say Ryan was NOT a fan. At all. But so long as the animals keep their distance, he’s in.
As per usual, there was a ‘Bucks stop on the way home when the kids fell asleep. In the summer, if we go in I get 2 shots over ice in a grande cup and add my own milk to make an iced latte for under $2, but that obviously doesn’t work at the drive-thru (PS if you’re looking for some more Starbucks hacks, check out my post, “How to get Starbucks for Free“) So instead I’ve been getting an iced Americano with extra milk and it’s delicious.
After, we ended up taking the boys to my MIL and going on a date. My phone was near death on it’s battery, which TBH ended up benefitting me, I think, but it also means no pictures. Oops. But no regrets. PS if you’re ever in Monmouth county – go to Drew’s Bayshore Bistro. We used to go all the time and it’s beyond delicious.
Alright, my friends – I’m out! I feel like my to-do list this week is a mile long, so I’m glad we had such a relaxing weekend. What did you do this weekend?
