Hi, friends! The weekend is over and it is Monday once again – how was your weekend? Ours was pretty action packed surprisingly! Let’s get into it! As always, I’m linking up with Katie and Erin!
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw this beauty of a lunch for Friday. It’s Jersey tomato season which is just the BEST because they’re so, so good. Plus mozzarella and leftover guac from Alex’s lunch – I could eat this everyday.
They I hung out with this macho man a bunch because I mean.. dat belly.
Most of Saturday morning was uneventful – Ryan continued to carry every truck he had into the kitchen table and line them up.
But then the day got a lot more exciting! I heard Cooper barking like crazy while I was doing dishes but ignored it because that’s pretty much the norm. But then I heard something different.. this adorable pup had wandered to our yard! He was super sweet and actually somehow snapped his lead that must have been attached to a stake or something because he was trailing it behind him. He didn’t have any tags, though, so I decided to try to walk up the street (we live on a dead end) to find his owners hopefully.
I swear I must have looked like a circus – wearing Owen, holding Ryan’s hand and walking this dog looking around to try and see if I could see a yard that looked like it should have a dog. Thankfully, a car started to pull up as I was deciding which house to try first and it was their dog! They didn’t even know he was gone. She had 2 little kids and I was so happy that they didn’t have to stress about the dog being missing. Plus, my house is the last stop before a pretty busy road and thick woods, so the story could have ended much differently!
After that excitement, it was nap time for the boys and I got dinner ready. Once Alex came home we had homemade burgers – mine on greens, the boys had buns, and I had grilled zucchini fries while they had sweet potato.
Since Ryan napped super late, we made an attempt at tiring him out by heading to the park after dinner.
Followed by Bux and the carwash. Ryan was unsure about how to feel about it.
Saturday morning was the norm… Just a toddler eating yogurt with a fork.
Owen wanted to hang out with my while I got ready so I laid in on the floor in the bathroom (#momlife) and then Ryan wanted to come hang out with his little brother. The best life.
We went to our fave BBQ place for lunch – Hometown BBQ in Brooklyn. You need to go. The whole place is decorated so well. One day I’ll take a billion pictures and order one of everything and a do a review. But today..
Brisket, beef rib, collards (no, like the best collards ever), pickles, and the world’s best cornbread that I am still made I couldn’t eat.
Then we went to our favorite zoo! Space Farms is pretty much the coolest. Read about it here, here, and here from past visits.
The older Ryan gets, the more fun things like this become! He was able to walk the entire zoo this time by himself, and we even got a bag of corn to feed the animals. He wasn’t a fan of them licking him, so he would take a whole handful and toss it in.
Clearly he made a lot of friends that way.
Here’s the crazy thing about toddlers (my toddler?) – they just don’t stop. It was 4:30 by the time we left and Ryan still hadn’t napped. It was super hot out, and he was running, running, running and clearly hot but he still refused to leave! Craziness.
And now I just realized this is the last picture I took. So there’s that. But after this, Ryan completely skipped his nap, we went to try and get me some clothes (fail) and then got Chipotle (win.) The norm.
So tell me – do anything fun this weekend? Let me know in the comments!
If you missed it, 2 posts went live this weekend!
How to Avoid Information Overload

I can definitely resonate with Ryan that when you get older, petting animals becomes more fun (and for me it was less scary.) Also, all the things you did look so fun. That BBQ looked so so delicious, and you are so disciplined Morgan, staying on what you need to eat right now. Zucchini fries sound really good to me! 🙂 Also, thank you so much for looking for the owner of that dog! I really understand what it’s like to lose a dog, and I just thank God for all the times people have restored our dogs to us.

What a fun weekend! It’s so great to see all the stuff you can do with two kids. I’m still getting used to a newborn, and I love following along your adventures.

The worst is when you are a kid and your dog goes missing. Well, it actually doesn’t get any better. And that BBQ… yas…. ANd fresh tomatoes are the best. All I need is a knife, maybe some salt and pepper. Let me at them!

Ahh it’s been way too long since I’ve had BBQ and that needs to change. And your tomato + guac salad looks DELICIOUS. Fun weekend!

What a fun weekend! How lucky that the family was right there when you were looking for them! We’ve found lots of dogs in our front yard before as they tend to make a run for the park at the bottom of our street – but the weirdest animal we’ve ever found was a guinea pig! We had to catch her behind the bushes in our front yard and take her to the local vet to see if they could track down her family.
