And Monday is back! How was your weekend? Do anything fun? Well rather than write a ton up here, I’m gonna just go riiight on to the Best of the Weekend! As always, I’m linking up with Katie and Erin!
On Friday, Ryan woke up with a 102 fever, no will to eat anything and a constant need to be held. This was early in the morning, and you can tell just how sick he was because he laid like this for about 10 minutes. For a kid who stay still all of 5 seconds at a time, this was a miracle.
He napped on me in 10 minute intervals for most of the morning, and I felt the real life mom struggle – when your sick baby falls asleep on you and the remote is too far to reach.
Basically all that Ryan has willingly eaten all weekend has been smoothies, so there was a lot of couch/smoothie/cuddle time. I think this one was banana/strawberry/blueberry/apple/spinach/peas/OJ/milk. I made a vague attempt at packing as much decent stuff in since it was all he was eating..
Saturday was a rough morning – I was up until 1230 ish because I was unbearably itchy (the eczema struggle is real and I really need to suck it up and change my diet…. after my birthday.) and Alex came home at 11 then made himself some food. (Other moms – wtf is up with not being able to sleep with ANY noise post kids? Pre-baby, I could sleep through anything. ANYTHING. I literally slept through cops arresting someone in my house once when I was a teenage. Now I wake up when the cat’s going crazy. Also, the arrest story is a story for another time.) And then Ryan woke up at 3. SUFFICE TO SAY, I was damn tired in Saturday. So I treated myself with a package of instant Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal made with whole milk and topped with butter and brown sugar. NO REGRETS.
Later I shared some of Ryan’s smoothie because it was BALLER. (blueberry, pineapple, banana, OJ, milk) I told you. A lot of smoothies this weekend.
Eventually Ryan took a nap. This is how I check if he’s fallen asleep on me. I hoped he would nap a solid hour so I could get some sleep too, but it was a short, sad 30 minutes. Womp.
For the most part, he was in a pretty happy mood Saturday and Sunday, regardless of how he was obviously feeling. I needed a shower and I needed some way to stay awake since Ryan refused a second nap, so I went all desperate mom and made this set up. The only snacks he would eat all weekend, (rice, raisins, apple) smoothie and A Very Pooh Christmas on Netflix while i showered. No shame. Okay, a little shame, and I would never do this if I though he could remember it or embarrass me in public by telling other people, so we’re clear for now.
Alex and I ended the night with the first Elf viewing of the year while I doodled. I copied this print to make this. I’m working on my hand lettering since it’s something I’ve always liked and used to basically do all the time in notebooks, so hopefully I’ll be able to design my own awesome prints sometime soon! If not, at least I won’t be shelling out NINETY FIVE+ dollars for a print. Oof.
Sunday was low key since the dude was still sick and consisted of making silly faces on the couch.. (with bellies out, holla)
Waving to Dada while he worked on his truck.. (basically the cutest ever – he watches Alex from the window in our room and every time Alex looks his way he start banging on the window.)
Watching cartoons while mommy rocks you. A real look into how he was feeling yesterday – he only wanted to be held, but not while sitting down. Oh, and he wanted to watch cartoons. So I stood and rocked with my back to the TV browsing Pinterest while he watched Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
Unpictured is a stop at Chipotle. We brought Ryan a smoothie thinking he wouldn’t eat there. WRONG. He ate like, a third of my bowl and half of my guac. This is kid is so my child – I’m sick, but I still want to eat the good stuff. No shame.
Dinner was at home again. (two weeks in a row! Man. We’re good.) I’m craving red meat like crazy, so we had steaks. Bomb steaks. Also mushrooms and roasted potatoes. A big plate of brown, but so, so good.
OKAY friends, I’m off to bed because I’m dead (note the eye circles in the above picture. Tired.) Let me know what you did this weekend!!
