If you’re looking for ideas for Mother’s Day at home, we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re looking for some ideas for your own mom or to pass on to the people in your life to spoil you, we’re sharing how to have a great, low key day.
As a homebody my whole life, I love having a chance to hang out and relax at home.
While the past year has definitely, ahem, tested that more than I ever anticipated, I am loving the forced lowkey life.
This Mother’s Day we’ll be spending it at home again. If you’re looking at the same, you’re probably in need of some ideas.
Mother’s Day at Home Ideas
Whether you’re looking for at home ways to celebrate the mom in your life or a way to enjoy YOUR day as a mom, we’ve got you covered.
First and foremost, make requests!
Listen up mom; we do EVERYTHING for our kiddos and husbands. If your family is like mine, they are terrible mind readers.
That means even though I love the surpise, I need to ask for what I want each year or else be angry it didn’t happen. Want a present? Tell someone. Want alone time? Want to not do dishes or make meals? You need to ask!
Plan a meal – to be brought in.
If you’re not the cooking kind, order in a meal for mom! Call up her favorite brunch spot and order her go to. Pick it up and surprise her with breakfast in bed.
Bonus if you grab the ingredients for her favorite drink as well!
Ignore the cleaning.
Another for the moms out there: this is your day, ignore the mess! It can be taken care of tomorrow.
To the kids out there, if you want to really treat mom this year, clean up the house so she feels ready to take on the week without doing a bunch of cleaning.
Ask for some alone time!
I adore alone time, and these days it’s worth more than anything! If you value it, make sure you ask your family for a bit of it today.
If you’re looking for ways to make a Mother’s Day at home feel special for the woman in your life, plan out some time where she can be alone for some time.
Take a Virtual Class
Virtual classes are all the rage! Try a cooking class or a crafting class with mom and spend a few hours learning something new.
Make a scrapbook.
This is great both for a gift or something to do together. I love to give our parents scrapbooks made on Shuterfly for the holidays and ti’s a great option as a gift for grandparents as well.
Bake something fun!
Baking is my happy place, and baked goods are almost as good. If your momma loves baking as well, plan to make somethign tasty with her! Plan it out and grab the ingredients before teh big day so she doesn’t have to do that part.
Bonus: do the dishes after while she relaxes.
Do some gardening.
Every year I notice Lowe’s and Home Depot are packed before Mother’s Day and it’s with good reason. Whether you’re doing the heavy lifting for mom and planting her a garden that will make the neighbors jealous or she love to do it herself, this is a great at home Mother’s Day Idea.
DIY Spa Day
Okay, not as relaxing as a true spa day, but you don’t have to leave your house! Stock up on essentials like face masks, mani-pedi kits, and bath bombs and spend an hour or two locked in the bathroom alone.
Make it a Jammy day!
Look. As a mom of 3, I am always looking for an excuse to sit in my pajamas all day. Give mom a chance to ignore jeans and dresses and make it a mandatory pajama day! Bonus if you get her some as a gift.

Ice cream cake was my favorite when I was a kid, but now I prefer regular cake. Actually, what I really prefer is just the icing. Is there such a thing as an icing cake?
Looks like a had a great Mother’s Day!

See, I love icing, but I’m not a fan of the cake-y part unless it’s SUPER moist. I usually eat the middles and the icing. When you find that all icing cake, be sure to let me know!
